The E postcode area is also known as the Eastern London postcode area and was not formed with the original postcode areas, but originated in 1866 when the E merged with NE into one. The twenty two postcode districts begin with E, is ranging from E1 to E20 in order and includes two non-geographic districts. They are all within the LONDON post town and cover an area of east London and a bit of Essex. The Boroughs that is served by the E postcode area include Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham and Waltham Forest as well as the City of London. In Essex, the Epping Forest district has a small amount of coverage.
E9 is the postcode of the Homerton District and covers Homerton, Vistoria Parl, Hackney Marshes, Hackney Wick and South Hackney in the London Borough of Hackney. Some archeological excavations made at Link Street showed us the remains of a building from the 11th or 12th century. The building of the fever hospital and the upcoming of the railways drove some or many of the wealthy residents away and the streets were packed with employees and clerks who worked in the factories and from 1937 a mass housing building drove away the slum and gave place to newer shops and became more of a commercial area. Homerton also houses a hospital, a recording studio, an art center called the Chats Palace and the Carnegie library. The prospects of this little area in Hackney are brightening from being a rather grey part of this borough, but through the arrival of the Channel Link which was linked to the Summer Olympics in London lifted this little district to a higher ground.
