As you start emptying each room, you can't help but feel emotional about your move. True, it's difficult to leave all the happy and irreplaceable memories you had in your house. But it is time to open a new chapter in your life now. In your new house, you can always make new memories to cherish.
You can cry all you want, but make sure it is not because of stress. Here are a few tips keep you from being too emotional in your move.
Get rid of the items you won't need in your new home. No matter how much you want to keep the wooden rocking horse, consider if it has a place in your new home. If you think it will lay useless in the basement, it will be better if you give it away. Or better yet, put it on a yard sale. Get rid of the junk and earn money at the same time.
Make yourself busy with packing. You will needs lot of newspapers and bubble wrap for this job. (Bubble wrap can also be soothing!)Make sure you wrap each item carefully with newspapers. Don't forget to cushion them with bubble wrap to make sure your belongings are safe. The key is to go extra mile in packing your items so your stuff will survive the trip.
Label each box accordingly. Label each box with the name of the room they belong to. This will allow the movers to place each box in the right room easily. Make sure you put the label on top and each side of the box. Don't forget to make special labels for your breakable items so movers can make extra precautions in moving them.
Let the movers do their job. Let the movers do the heavy job since you have more important things to do. Besides, you don't want to spend your first day in your new home treating backaches. But if you are up to the challenge and you want to be hands-on with the moving, rent a truck and be prepared for a lot of hard work.
