SE is the postcode district area of the South Eastern part of London and is called the London SE postcode area and covers only parts of the south eastern London and correlates to the London Borough of Lewisham, the London Borough of Southwark and the Royal Borough of Greenwich and smaller parts of the London Borough of Bexley and Bromley plus some of the eastern part of London Borough of Lambeth. SE18 is the postcode of Woolwich District and covers Shooter’s Hill, Plumtead and Woolwich. It is part of the London Borough of Greenwich on the south bank of Thames. SE18 was home to The Royal Military Academy in Woolwich from 1741 until the Second World War. The Woolwich Academy was pooled with Sandhurst and in 1947 the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst reopened. In 1886 the Royal Arsenal (current Arsenal FC in Woolwich) was founded. The club took its name from the large military installations, Royal Arsenal, which was previously located here. Arsenal FC moved to the London Borough of Islington in 1913. Woolwich have a ferry service across the River Thames and a long pedestrian underground tunnel that leads to North Woolwich. In 1889 Woolwich became part of London by the formation of the London County Council.
